Charlie Swan - Protector of Forks, Washington.
Charlie Swan is Bella’s father. He is the police chief of Forks, WA. He has lived in the same house for all of Bella’s life. His wife Reneé left him while Bella was still a baby. He is a kind, hard-working man. Bella spent most of her summers with him in Forks, but she hated gloomy Forks so much that she later convinced him to vacation with her in California instead. Bella’s mom married a younger baseball player who had to travel a lot. Her mom wanted to be with him more, so Bella decided to move in with Charlie. This allowed her mom to be with her husband more. Charlie graciously accepted this new situation. Charlie is a quiet and “manly” man. He loves to fish and watch tons of sports on TV. He cannot cook, but he loves food. Bella is the cook of the family. You wonder how he existed without her after one hilarious scene when he tries to make spaghetti and it turns out to be a huge noodle lump. He is a good father. He tries his best. He tries to keep Bella safe, but he never has any idea about how dangerous her life actually is. He doesn’t have a lot of finesse or charm, but he has a pure heart and is a trusting friend. Harry Clearwater and Billy Black (of the Quilete tribe) are two of his closest friends. These are important friendships, because they are what connect Bella to the Quilete tribe and specifically to Jacob Black.
Charlie Swan is played by Billy Burke
