Twilight Town
The Twilight Town truly exists! When Stephenie Meyer was looking for an official setting for her novel, a simple google search for the rainiest place in America is all it took. Forks, Washington is perfectly cloudy, small, and near an Indian reservation. Stephenie Meyer wrote about a time when she went to visit Forks with her sister. Besides the fact that it was actually SUNNY on that day- it was amazingly similar to how she had imagined it. The reservation La Push was EXACTLY as she’d imagined it, and she had the feeling like she might run into Jacob at any time! I happen to be a native of Washington state. I grew up not too far from Forks actually. So this was fun for me to read about. Ironically, I now live in Phoenix where the sun shines almost constantly. I can tell you that the two are as different as night and day (Washington is night of course and Arizona is the day). Bella prefers the sun and warm weather as do I. The cloudy Washington weather can often feel claustrophobic and depressing. But at times the constant water around you can make you feel alive, kind of like you are a part of nature. Who can resist raindrops falling down your face...at least once a month any way. Bella detested the little town Forks until it became something new for her- a place to love and be loved by her first and eternal love Edward Cullen. Forks, Washington is now a tourist attraction. Fans visit and they actually have Twilight Tours.
You can check out the Twilight town website to see when these tours are held.
